At some point in every interior designers opening conversation with a potential client, we include an explanation of why us designers are worth every penny we charge. Our years of experience, learning and mistakes have a value way beyond the cost of a new sofa. I write this with a certain confidence. I’ve made more costly mistakes than I care to remember, but this means with me and my fabulous team of designers on board you won’t repeat those same mistakes.

There’s no shortcut to gaining years of experience in the world of interior design, you have to forget to check that a bulky item of furniture can actually pass the turn on a staircase at least once to understand the level of detail you need to know to successfully design, decorate and furnish your home. And that’s just one reason to hire a professional designer!

We are founts of all knowledge - well almost!

We live and breathe interiors, sometimes even dream them, to such an extent that our greed for knowledge is often obsessional, we rush to see the latest collections. Always with a keen eye for what’s new, but more importantly what works in real homes. You only have to look through Instagram posts for glamorous interiors to see that many beautifully designed homes don’t work for a family of five with two dogs and an emotionally disturbed cat. So we are practical, we understand the dynamics of family life and how the space we live in impacts on our state of mind. If you constantly catch the corner of a coffee table every time you walk through your living area, you’ll be pretty grumpy by the time you get to where you’re going.

Silly, I know, but you’d be surprised how often we go into a home and see how difficult it is for a busy family to pass each other in a kitchen or realise with horror there isn’t sufficient seating for the whole family to be together in one space. A new and expert eye on an old annoyance is always a good thing. We see solutions to everyday challenges within a home quickly; lighting, air quality and colour all have a part to play in how a space makes us feel. Room layouts are rarely considered in the way we look at them. Great aesthetics are not difficult to achieve in room design these days, there are so many resources online for you to feed off, but well-thought-through space planning, lighting and flow of a design throughout the home take expertise to get right. We’ve invested and continue to invest in our education so that we can do this for you.

Luxury can lead to relaxation

There’s no getting away from the fact that using an interior designer is a luxury, and not everyone can afford to appoint one for their home design. So choosing the right interior designer for your needs is essential (more on how to choose the right designer to come), we say trust your gut, it’s much like identifying a new friend, you’ll get a feel for whether someone hears what you are saying and more importantly, uncovers what you’re not saying or haven’t even thought of! There are many, many, brilliant interior designers out there, but not every one of them will be able to communicate with you in a way that meets your needs. They’ll have the expertise, but do you feel comfortable talking with them?
